The picker

Sunday night, I was sitting in the 4th bedroom on the couch, reading Little Dorrit and I looked up at the wallpaper border. I thought to myself, I wonder if that will come down easily? So I started to pick...

It came off all too easily. I don't even have anything to complain about, which is unusual for me. So I got that border down by the end of Monday night.

Tuesday afternoon, Will and I were playing cars in the living room. One of them happened to make it into the dining room (wood floors are great for playing with Hot Wheels). We scooted into that room. A loose piece of wallpaper happened to catch my eye. I started to pick...

I suppose there are worse things in life to pick than wallpaper. I always get mad at Will for picking at things, but he obviously gets it from me.

The window air conditioner in our house has finally given up the ghost. The instruction book that came with it said that it was installed on 7.7.1977. I think it has served long enough. We will give it a good burial with the good folks at CGS.

We are finally done moving stuff from our apartment to our house. Now all we have to do is unpack the rest of it. Tyler is turning in the keys to the apartment today. I've hopped on his computer for a few minutes to check email, etc. He hates it when I use his computer. Apparently, everything I touch becomes sticky.

My mom, sister, and nephew came to visit for a couple days. Will loves Ethan. He goes nuts whenever they are together. We went to the zoo and the children's museum. It's nice to live closer to Indy.

Tyler and I had our 5th anniversary yesterday. What a great 5 years it's been! To celebrate, we went to a restaurant just 6 blocks away from our house called Carnegies. It's in the basement of the old Carnegie library. The food was delicious. It was nice to go out with each other without the kids. Nanny and Poppy came down to watch them and they took Will home with them. We slept in till about 7:30. Well, gotta go unpack some more!

The final big move

Tomorrow, we are going to move into our house. It's going to be another 90 degree day. I'm glad I'm not moving the big stuff. I turned on the window units today and it was heavenly standing in front of them while I was drenched in sweat. I'm taking the kids out while the move is happening. Will is always underfoot. We are getting our cable/internet turned on on Monday, so I will let you know how the move went later on next week.

The plumber came on Wednesday and installed a new toilet and the tub glazer came this morning and reglazed our tub white. When we took down the glass door, we broke a few tiles, so we will have to retile the tub. But that's what happens when you start changing things, you have to keep on going. The bathroom smells like you just inhaled a bottle of nail polish remover.

We're spending the rest of the day at our apartment. With temperatures in the 90's and no AC going at the house right now, it's just too hot. We'll get the window units going on Friday and hopefully those will keep it bearable.

Yesterday, I went to the Home Despot again and bought myself a heat gun to help me strip paint and putty. I can't wait to fire this baby up and take paint off woodwork. I started taking old caulking off the bathtub and I'm taking the glass door off. Glass doors really bug me. They are hard to clean, and they hamper the bathing of children. The bathtub is also getting reglazed white on Thursday. No more Big Pink!

This morning, I tried on my second most skinny pairs of jeans. I was actually able to button them up fairly easily! Small victory for me. So, they are a little bulgy and look painted on, but I am pretty excited.

Battling the noxious weeds in my garden will be no easy task. I got this gigantic tub of Roundup that has this fantastic new sprayer for a continuous spray for up to 5 minutes. I sprayed some of the backyard weeds yesterday. I don't think it will kill the ivy or the peppermint. If you ever decide to grow any kind of mint, do not plant it in the ground! It is a container plant only!

A rainstorm came through our area last night. It must have been a pretty good one because there was a good sized puddle on our covered porch. Will loved it. He splashed through it, threw things in it, dipped his fingers in the water and drank it, and delighted in kicking the water up onto the windows. I wonder what kind of disgusting things I ate and drank when I was a kid?

"She works hard for the money"

Today, we got our new kitchen appliances. Pretty exciting! I didn't realize getting new appliances was so much work. You have to burn substances out of the oven, clean drawers and shelves with hot soapy water, and tear adhesive plastic off of everything. Oh, not to mention, take care of a leak in the basement from turning on the fridge water. Ok, so I didn't really take care of it, but I put a plastic container under it to catch the water. It still stressed me out. For some reason it surprised me that there wasn't a plumber that could come out the very minute I called. Don't some of them sit around and wait for people like me to have emergencies?

This morning, I tackled a couple of non-poisonous vines that were attached to the rose-bushes-of-death. Seriously, I have never seen so many thorns on any kind of a bush. Those babies had better be full of blooms next year or they are coming down!

Oh, we also got a toilet tonight from the Home Despot. The plumber is coming out on Wednesday to put it in and fix the leak. We are getting rid of the pink potty that I refused to even dispose of my waste in.

Freedom Fest

The Freedom Fest was a lot of fun. Will had a blast watching all the planes and running around with Ethan. There were also those giant inflatable bouncy things, which Will refused to get out of. Ethan had to go in there and carry Will out because he would not get out when his time was up. All the other little kids came out when their parents called for them, but not Will. I wonder how many kids are injured in those bouncy things. Will just sat while all the other kids bounced around him. They kept on tripping over him and stepping on his fingers and toes. I was sure he was going to break at least one bone in his body.

We got to the airshow around 12:45 because KMC controls (my family's company) was having their company picnic. The airshow started at 4:00 and by 7:00 Will was crying every time an airplane went by. It was all too much for him. We did get to see Shockwave's daytime appearance and we left shortly after that. Will did enjoy most of the airshow, though. Maggie slept on various people's shoulders most of the afternoon.

Tonight there is a fireworks show at the golfcourse that my parents live in. So, we will get our patriotism on and watch things get blown up.

Ever since Monday, I have been trying to clean the house. At first glance, it just looks dusty. I began to clean the floors by vacuuming up the big chunks of stuff and dust. Then I wiped it with a damp rag. Then I used a deep cleaning formula left by the Rihms. It smelled terrible! Then I applied an acrylic floor formula in the living room, entryway, and dining room. Even after all that, the rags I am using still come back dirty after wiping the floors! Oh well, I will get those floors clean! I can't use the deep cleaner or acrylic stuff around Will because he would be running all over the treated areas. I will just have to wait to do the rest of the house another time.

There is a certain point which the three of us reach in our day cleaning the house. Usually at least one of the kids is poopy, and at least one of them is crying. That is when I throw in the towel and go home for the day.

This weekend I am going to Goshen to visit the fam. We are going to the Freedom Fest on Saturday. Normally, I am not too keen on air shows and the like, but the Freedom Fest is really awesome. My favorite part is Shockwave. It's a semi truck with jet engines. You have to watch the whole video I posted to get an idea of how cool it is. Totally redneck! There are several videos that pop up with the key words I included, but wait for the ones that look really black on the screen.
